Invite All Facebook Friends to Group, Event or Page
Anyone who uses Facebook as a tool for networking to hundreds (if not thousands) of people knows the frustration of inviting friends to either a group, event or page. One by one you have to manually click on each profile image in a tiny window, scrolling and clicking, scrolling and clicking. HASSLE.
Unless you’ve been keeping track of these people and dividing them into proper groups, the whole practice made using what Facebook is good for—reaching those users—a contradictory and miserable experience. We finally got fed up did some Googling; there had to be some sort of work-around out there, right? Indeed there has been for over a year now, and we still find it to be one of the most useful hacks.
HĂĄkon Drange aka Plumbo out of Oslo, Norway, wrote a small piece of javascript that will allow you to select all of your friends with just a few simple steps:
javascript:elms=document.getElementById('friends').getElementsByTagName('li');for(var fid in elms){if(typeof elms[fid] === 'object'){fs.click(elms[fid]);}}
1. Go to your Event, Group or Page and click “Invite People”.
2. Once the page has loaded you should see all of your friends, although they are not selected.
3. Copy and paste the javascript code above into your browser’s address bar, then hit “Enter”.
4. This will select all of your friends. Note that this can take a minute.
5. Click the “Send Invitations” button to finally send the invites.
Also keep in mind that the invites are queued up on Facebook’s backend before sending, so it will take some time for all of them to go out. Usually the messages will be delivered over the next 24 hours or so. Patience, young grasshopper, patience.
So there you have it. Finally an easy way to invite everyone you know (or don’t) to join your little soiree or clan without an hour or your life stolen. Hopefully you find this as useful as we did!
